San Isidro is about 1 hour from Rio Magnolia. It is a prosperous agricultural town, a key farming center in the valley, and is the largest town in this region. Lying just a few minutes away from the Pan-American Highway on the slopes of the Talamanca Mountains, San Isidro  is a great stopping point for tourists on the way to Chirripo National Park, Dominical or Panama.(transportation extra)

Los Cusingos Bird Sanctuary, near San Isidro de El General- $13 admission,  guided tours available (normally about $10/pp for 3 hours) -A 142-hectare (350-acre) bird sanctuary, this reserve is located on the lower slopes of Chirripo near the community of Santa Elena which is 15-km (9 mi) southeast of San Isidro. Run by the Tropical Science Center, this sanctuary was the home of the late Dr. Alexander Skutch who was a co-author of Birds of Costa Rica. (transportation extra)

Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary- $25/ adult, $15/child
Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary is a rescue and rehabilitation center with on-site veterinary clinic for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. (transportation extra)

Flight of the Toucan  - $49/pp
This is a very popular tour. You leave Rio Magnolia at 7 am for your canopy tour at 8 am. This tour includes a guided hike up to the canopy and then several zip-lines through the canopy. The tour is finished at 11 am at which time you could spend more time a Hacienda Baru where there is a beautiful beach, butterfly gardens and a restaurant for lunch or go into Dominical for lunch and explore the beach and small shops and beach vendors. Nauyaca Fall Horseback Tour - $70/pp 
This is also a very popular tour. You leave Rio Magnolia about 7:15 for a tour at 8 am. You get on the horses and travel to the family farm and have a typical Costa Rican breakfast. Then you ride to the Nauyaca Waterfalls and swim. Then you return to the farm for lunch and then ride out for pickup at 2 pm. (transportation extra)
