Río Magnolia Ecolodge, Costa Rica - Luxury Nature Lodge, Villas, Cabinas and Restaurant

Río Magnolia Nature Lodge, Costa Rica

Río Magnolia is a jungle Eco-lodge situated on a 280 acre property of mountain rainforest with a bounty of different species of birds and animals. In fact, the author of ‘The Birds of Costa Rica, A Field Guide’, Richard Garriques, did a bird count at Rio Magnolia December 27, 2009 as part of the annual Christmas bird count. He and his family counted 138 different bird species that day!

Rio Magnolia is located near the small town of La Alfombra overlooking Costa Rica’s southern Pacific Ocean. Our commitment to protecting the environment is reflected in a number of initiatives like the recycling program we have started for the town. Our electrical power is produced by a small hydro electric system in our river and distributed to the various Lodge buildings by buried cable. We have built a solar dryer for drying our bed and table linens. Our mission is to conserve our forest and the animals and birds living here. We are located in the Path of the Tapir Biological Corridor, which was developed by a conservation group called ASANA, friends of nature (http://www.asanacostarica.com/biological-corridors). This biological corridor of forests allows habitat for the movement of wildlife.

Experience the casual elegance of the Lodge, an exciting combination of comfortable accommodations set in primitive surroundings. Imagine waking up in silky white linens listening to the sounds from the jungle! Dining is a wonderful experience at Magnolia House. Breakfast is your choice with fresh fruit and homemade granola always available. Menus for lunch and sunset appetizers followed by dinner are prepared daily to meet your expectations for great food.

We are currently offering some special packages that you can take advantage of...Romance, Adventure, Birding, Winter Getaway… that you will find on our website. Rio Magnolia is also an ideal place for a destination wedding or a special group function. We can accommodate 16 people comfortably in our 3 Lodge suites, 4 cabinas and 1 villa. Please inquire about our Wedding packages.

There is always lots to do at Rio Magnolia, any time of the year; hiking in the primary forest or up the river, bird watching, walking along the roads and pathways, horseback riding, swimming in the large infinity pool, or relaxing with a book and binoculars on one of the many covered terraces. Or, we can arrange day or half-day trips to one of the many south Pacific beaches, whale watching at Ballena National Park, Cano Island for snorkelling, hiking at Corcovado Park, Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge for canopy tours and zip-lining.

Río Magnolia promises to provide its guests with superior accommodations, food, service and a Costa Rican jungle experience. Wake up to the sounds of howler monkeys and toucans!
